Left my grandparents cabin at 9:30 and drove to Kelowna to meet up with my friend Dylan and go climbing. I had mentioned going to Skaha with him but when I arrived he suggested we go somewhere closer that was shady and a bit cooler. I agreed because it was blisteringly hot and we headed to KLO Creek outside Kelowna.

About one hour and one dead car requiring a push start later we made it to the wall and set up. I hopped on lead and warmed up on a 5.9 and Dylan cleaned. After that Dylan suggested an adjacent 5.11, Victory Whip, that he was working on getting clean. I was a bit nervous since I've never lead a 5.11 but decided to go for it and went first. It went very well and although it wasn't clean (struggled a bit at the top) I got my first 5.11! I was stoked and it was a very fun climb I would do again.

Next we moved on to a 5.10d on the same walk, Oh My God Its Eating My Head, which had a very difficult, comitting crux that Dylan did easily but I couldn't bring myself to finish. Luckily there were some fixed draws I was able to bail off. I blame it on how pumped I was from the last climb.

We moved to a different wall, The Bear Wall, and did a 5.10b, Water You Saying, pretty quickly before attempting our final climb of the day a 5.10b, Care Bear. Dylan went up easily enough and I followed but got stuck at the crux on a difficult (harder than 5.10b imo) move. I tried my best even taking a good whip but couldn't get it. Dylan had to go back up and clean (he did a different route around the crux) and we headed off. Even though I had bailed on two climbs I was happy with the day as I had bagged my first 5.11 and tried very hard taking a good whip. We left satisfied at ~6:00.

We returned to Dylan's place and grabbed some dinner then we jammed out with his neighbour and watched some TV until bedtime.
