Nursia / Norrish Peak - March 29th 2023 w/ Sam Elizabeth
Either Alltrails is wrong or my Garmin is shit cause this hike was longer than I expected. I clocked in at 20.72km and 1,572m RT and that seems a tad high but not too much when I compare it to others.

| Taken on the way down, looking back at the route that follows the cutblock to the right and then all the way along the ridge to that little bump back left (summit) |
At the end of the road you ascend the
ridge and then it levels up and then there is another bump and you go up etc.
etc and on and on it was quite tiring when I thought I was nearly done. I ended
up finishing the last 1.5km on my own and it took me about 45 minutes one way.
There is a small bump in the way that others have written about that was quite
steep. I brought my ice axe and had to use it and took off my snowshoes as they
were useless at that angle. The descent from that bump to the next was also
quite steep and I turned in and downclimbed. All these sections are very short
though (10-15m) but the runout isn't great (steep and trees) so it would suck
to fall.

The top is beautiful and well worth
continuing for, best views of the day by far and you get a huge 360 view. The
descent was uneventful although somewhat painful with how wet and heavy the
snow had become. I caught up with Sam near the creek crossing on the logging
road and we switched to runners for the final pleasant 4.5km.

Overall it took us 8.5 hours RT with
very few breaks and I imagine you could shorten that by a fair bit. I wouldn't recommend
this to many normal people but for a Peakbagger its fine. Wish I could've just
driven up the road though....
