Mt. McGuire - July 31st 2022

13.7km, 1071m
4hr C2C

I wanted to do something not too hard or long because of the heat this weekend and after seeing a few trip reports (Andrew Knapman) recently of this peak I decided to go for it.

I wanted to start early but I was tired from sport climbing yesterday so I didn't leave till 8:30. I followed Andrews access beta and drove straight to the destroyed bridge. The road was quite rough in parts but I made it without damaging my truck too much...

After the bridge its ~5km of logging road, not much to say. Read Andrews report for details if you want to drive further. I made a small navigation error you can see at the ~4.5km mark and went up a wrong trail and came to an old abandoned cabin. When I kept going I crested a small hill and a big bear was smack in the middle of the trail. He didn't see me and so I went out the way I came and realized my mistake.
Once you get off the logging road its quite pleasant. The meadows are gorgeous and the final ridge ascent is very satisfying albeit short. I think I found / went up the class 2 / 3 way Andrew and some others mentioned but on my way down I found a trail that went around and so I don't think you need to do anything even remotely scrambly. Got to the top in ~2.5 hours and had a quick phone call before heading down.

Hardest part of this hike was the road for sure.
