I wanted to do a bigger hike in preparation for Baker next month and I was deciding between Mt. Crickmer and Mt. Gloria. I decided on Gloria because it was a bit easier but I knew it would be hard for Coen and Sam at 1400m or more of elevation gain. I was planning on just doing it solo really early especially cause the forecast was bad but to my surprise they decided to come along, hurray!
I made sure we started early enough to not worry and we hit the trail at ~9am. The first half hour was easy and pleasant following some MTB trails through the Chilliwack Community Forest. Once we got to the extents of that we found the one and only trail going up Gloria and began the slog.
And slog it was, not much in the way of views or anything especially because it was quite foggy but we made our way up anyways. Snow started at 1150m and got very icy at 1200m and we donned our microspikes to get to the top.
We didn't linger long at the top because we were completely socked in and it was quite snowy and cold. We ate a quick lunch and headed down. I wanted to go to the summit but Sam and Coen were tired and I didn't want to press my luck after how well they had done and the fact they had even agreed to go.
Made it back to the car in 5h45m and went to a new mexican restaraunt for dinner.
