Chuwhels Mountain - July 2nd 2022
We went up to my grandparents cabin this long weekend and met with Sams family. I looked around on PeakBagger and saw Chuwhels Mountain nearby. After some googling I found a trip report for it that said it was an extremely easy, basically drive up so I thought it would make a good morning hike where I wouldn't be gone too long.
On the Saturday I woke up kind of late at 7:30 and headed out straight away with Sam and Jebby. It was a beautiful day and already quite warm and the trip report was right it was basically 30-40 minutes of driving on a logging road to the top. At first the logging road was quite decent but at one point we turned right on to a spur and over a small ditch and it became quite steep and rough for half a kilometre or so. My truck handled it easily though and before long we were near the top. Originally I thought the road just went close to the top and that we would have to walk or bushwack to the true summit but as we got closer I realized the road went to the very tippy top and that if we wanted to have any walk we were going to have to park and just walk the logging road, so we did.
We only had a kilometre or so and it was very easy to the top except the mosquitoes were atrocious. I regretted not putting bug spray on before leaving. Soon enough we were at the radio tower summit and I thrashed around in the bushes because my watch told me thats where the summit was but really it was on a rocky area where one of the communications tower tension wires was fixed. We didn't dawdle for too long because of the mosquitoes and we had to be back for breakfast at 9 before heading back. We did get nice views to the north of another small / easy drive up mountain (Green something?), which one day I'll do on another cabin trip.

We made it down without event and the drive down was much quicker and soon enough we were back at the cabin for breakfast right on time!
