Hydro Mountain - February 13th 2022

Coen was going snowboarding with my sister and I had to meet them in Mission to drop him off so I decided to tick another of the Mission peaks off my list. Hydro Mountain was mostly a logging road jaunt. I went up the south approach which terminated ~70m from the true summit. I had planned on bushwacking this and so off I went. I was a bit nervous because I haven't done any bushwacking and it went well. It was tough at first to find the "right" line but eventually I just went for it and kind of followed a dry little creek bed. Before I knew it I had met up with the logging road from the North and I bushwacked to the true summit. It was quite dense and I was glad I had Jebby with me because on the way down he sniffed out the trail we had come up and so I didn't need to worry about getting lost. The bushwack was quite dense and I scratched up my arms quite a bit being impatient and just wading through everything. Next time I bushwack I will wear long sleeves. After that I decided to wrap around the North side to avoid bushwacking back the way I came. Plus it was a gorgeous day so I figured why not extend the trip a bit. On the way down I came to a nice viewpoint of Hoover Lake, which was still frozen over, and I decided to make a slight detour to check it out. After this I made the uneventful slog down the logging road back to my truck.
