Dewdney Mountain - February 20th 2022

I wanted to go on a hike and Coen wanted to come so it needed to be no bushwacking. I decided to do Dewdney because while we've done the grind a dozen times we'd never been to the top.

The first half up to the cabin was uneventful. Coen was having a bit of a rough time and the going was slow. At the first logging road the trail had been wiped out by the flooding in November so it was a bit of a pain but after that it was straightforward. Around 650m we hit snow and there would be continuous coverage until the top.

After we got off the logging road and on to the last 200m of elevation I gave my spikes to Coen as he was slipping a bit. They were big but better than nothing and he ended up wearing them the rest of the trip.

This was our view...

Start of the grind - we've done this many times.

Once we made it to the top we had a nice lunch of coffee, soup and sandwiches before heading down. Not much to say as there were no viewpoints and even if there were we were so socked in we wouldn't have been able to see anything.

I was quite proud of Coen for not giving up and after the first half he was quite upbeat.
